Faessel is the merchandise manager for the 17-store Crown ACE Hardware chain based in Huntington Beach. In addition, he has taught courses in electricity, electrical codes and utility systems as a continuing education instructor for the North Orange County Community College District. A longtime member of the National Fire Protection Association, Electrical Section, Faessel also has consulted with local contractors and businesses on electrical designs.
Faessel chairs the city of Anaheim’s Budget, Investment and Technology Committee, after serving on the Anaheim Planning Commission from June 2006 to June 2013. He previously chaired the Anaheim Public Utility Board and served on the city’s General Plan Advisory Committee.
He sits on the board of trustees of the Anaheim Museum, Inc. and is president of the Anaheim Mother Colony Household, Inc. Faessel is a founding member of the Anaheim MUZEO, where he currently serves as the foundation’s board secretary. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Anaheim Community Foundation, and currently serves on the foundation’s Executive Committee.
Faessel is past president of the Anaheim Historical Society, Inc., for which he continues to serve as its corresponding secretary, as well as the local chapter of the Native Sons of the Golden West. He served on and chaired the Orange County Historical Commission, including on the commission’s editorial board during the republishing of the county’s history book, “100 Years of Yesterdays.”
A longtime volunteer researcher for the Anaheim Public Library, he continues to write articles on Anaheim’s history, including four illustrated books, including “Early Anaheim and Anaheim 1940-2007,” for Arcadia Publishing as well as “Historic Photos of Anaheim” and “Remembering Anaheim,” both for Turner Publishing.
Faessel and his wife, Susan, have one adult son and three grandsons.
